About Us

Our Story

Our vision is to create a welcoming, community-owned hub and pub for Morebattle and the surrounding area, serving as a central focal point for village life and helping to revitalise both the local economy and connected community.

We’re looking to give the existing Templehall Inn a new lease of life, turning it into a lively, mixed-use space with plenty going on. A proper local spot where folk can drop in, meet up, and sort out the world’s problems over a pint (or at least have a good go at it). The aim is to bring a bit of buzz back to the village, strengthen local connections, and help Morebattle feel like it’s got its heart firmly back in gear again.

Our History

With the Templehall Inn on the market for well over a year and staffing challenges affecting its reliability, it sadly became less and less frequented by both locals and visitors. Before long, conversations began to turn toward the idea of a community buyout to save this vital facility.

The community already had a shining example of success with the 2019 buyout of the Village Shop, where a professional management team now works hand-in-hand with around 24 dedicated volunteers who make up the heart of its operation.

This rapid and enthusiastic response highlights the community’s strong commitment to the project.

Community Ownership

The vehicle for this purchase is The Morebattle Community Hub and Public House Limited, a Community Benefit Society registered with the Financial Conduct Authority.

We have chosen this legal model because it emphasises the social benefit of the project, and allows local residents and other supporters to take full ownership of it through the purchase of shares.

Its statutory “asset lock” also ensures that the assets of the society will be used for the benefit of the community and cannot be disposed of for private profit.
